What’s new and what is coming at Fr. Bernard Youth Center (FBYC)? · XLT (Exalt)- Every 3rd Thursday another regular ministry at FBYC. Every third Thursday of the month youth and young adults from near and afar come to an evening of praise and worship, Adoration, inspiration and fellowship in the presence of Christ! Like many FBYC events, Reconciliation is also available! World Youth Day Pilgrimage—Mar 15—16, 2008! High School Students from all over invited to a 14 mile Pilgrimage walk. Christian Rock, adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, witness talks and Palm Sunday Mass await at the end of this wonderful faith filled journey! Marriage Preparation—New classes March, 2008. Couples considering marriage and those preparing for marriage will benefit greatly from these classes and retreats. 20 people affiliated with FBYC went through training by Ascension Press to become qualified Marriage Prep program Leaders, a program for couples preparing for a sacramental marriage. Last year, 11 parishes rocked out from as far away as Tillamook. The music provides Catholic young adults rock music they’ll enjoy filled with positive Christian messages and great fellowship opportunities! · THE DUB! Both Reach & Net Ministry Teams have held retreats at FBYC. Net and Reach are National/International traveling youth ministries. Reach’s “THE DUB” is at FBYC this summer, Jun 15—20, 2008! · CLI-Christian Leadership Institute Jun 23—27, 2008 at FBYC draws high school leaders from the entire Archdiocese together and trains them to work in their youth groups, parishes and schools. We Are One Body - Jul 17—20, 2008 Liturgy camp/conference trains young people and their leaders for ministry in the liturgy. This is a great opportunity to more fully understand the Mass and how to serve in your Parish. A fun, educational and spiritual exploration into Service! Veterans Retreat—August 15—17, 2008 Conducted solely by Chaplains and Veterans for returning soldiers and other veterans of the armed forces. Spiritual council, Reconciliation, reflection, adoration, Mass and prayer, individually and with others who intimately understand what our soldiers have been through. Soldiers not only return home, but return to Christ in the Sacraments and in His Body! May God Bless our TROOPS! · The Battle of the Bands—Coming Aug 30, 2008 In its second year at the center, this is one of the ways FBYC is reaching young people through their shared love for music! Outdoor stages and extensive grounds provide a great backdrop for this Rock competition! · Young Adult Retreat - Jan 30—Feb 1, 2009 Young Adults ages 18-40 come from all over the Archdiocese. Approximately 50 attend. Several have commented that this retreat was a positive life-changing experience bringing them closer to Christ! Amen! Please join us next time. · FBYC Dances and Socials Several times during the year FBYC links communities by hosting young adult dances and social functions to promote fellowship between young Catholics from different parishes. · Ministry to the Mentors at FBYC in collaboration with the Archdiocese youth and young adult mentors receive training and support! · Weekend retreats: FBYC is booking weekend retreats in 2008 and 2009! A few weekends remain available for booking around holidays and in summer. Weekend retreats, often run by parishes and schools, include retreats for Confirmation, Leadership, Service and Spiritual Growth! · At Risk Youth have been at FBYC on retreats with organizations that work with these young people.
